Glossary Of Terms For Standard UK Sizes
Standard UK Bed Sizes
Small Single: 2'6" (75cm) x 6'3" (190cm)
Single : 3' (90cm) x 6'3" (190cm)
Small Double: 4' (120cm) x 6'3" (190cm)
Double: 4'6" (135cm) x 6'3" (190cm)
Kingsize: 5' (150cm ) x 6'6" (200cm)
Superking 6' (180cm) x 6'6" (200)
Please note all sizes quoted are approximate, due to manufacture please allow a tolerance of up to 1.5" or 3.8cm
Bed Types
Types of bed fall into two catergories : Divans with or without storage options or Bed Frames which can be metal, wood, leather, fabric.
Open Coil Spring : This spring is made with high tensile inter-twined steel, which is then turned into a spring unit.
Gauge : Is the term used to refer to the thickness of wire ...12.5 g is used for mainly Orthopaedic Mattresses, whilst 13.5g gives a softer feel. The lower the spring gauge the firmer the spring.
Wire Framed : Is the term used for the wire edge frame attached by gun to the open coil spring, which gives it more stability and helps with roll off.
